Author to thank teachers at Austin College Vicki
Graves Kay Kellam seems to be off to a good start in her writing carer. But she hasn’t forgotten her roots and will be in Sherman Monday to thank her college professors for their help in reaching her goals as well as meet with others who share her passion for England’s royal family.
Kellam graduated from Austin
College in 1995 as a communication arts major and is now enjoying the success of
her first novel, “A Life to Di For.” The
book explores the life and death of Princess Diana and how that life will affect
future generations. It was reviewed
by Webmaster Denise Montgomery and is being featured on the website “Princess
Diana Shopping Arcade.”
Montgomery, a college
librarian, gave Kellam a five-star status – the only author on whom Montgomery
bestowed the ratings. “The story
itself is so compelling that you won’t put it down till it’s finished.
What’s more, it doesn’t have any loose ends or implausible motives or
events,” were some of the comments Montgomery gave to the novel
published by Bernardo Press.
The 25-year old writer
traveled to London several times and had the opportunity to explore the
Kensington Palace neighborhood and other areas frequented by Diana.
Her interest in the royal family and Diana resulted in a project that
began as a short story the day after the princess was killed and was completed
before the funeral. After setting
the work aside for a year, Kellam opted to lengthen the story. It was released on the second anniversary of Princess
Diana’s death.
Persons interested in Diana
are encouraged to discuss her life and death with Kellam from 11:30 a.m. to 1
p.m. and 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday outside the Austin College Cafeteria. |
